7th Windsor International String Competition 2019

In 2008, Windsor Festival launched its first international string competition in honour of Yehudi Menuhin. Menuhin, along with Ian Hunter, was one of the founding Artistic Directors of the Festival and his orchestra and family, along with many friends, were the major participants in the early years.

Since its conception until 2091 O’Carroll Artist & Project Management has worked as consultant to the competition devising the evolving structure of the competition, advising on the marketing of the event to young international musicians, working with the festival to secure prizes and concert opportunities for the prizewinner and to appoint the Jury.

The competition has proved to be an important and integral addition to the Festival and through it, the Festival’s vision is to build strong relationships with the next generation of performers, to ensure that talent is nurtured, encouraged and supported is being achieved.

The 2019 competition took place between the 23rd and 29th of March 2019 with cellist, Jonathan Swensen, won First Prize.
